Instructions

If your parent(s) are not planning to file a 2020 federal income tax return, they will need to complete the 2022-23 Parent Non-Tax Filer's Statement.  They will also need to provide a Verification of Non-Filing Letter from the IRS for the 2020 tax year. 

Your parents will also need to submit any W-2 or 1099 forms they have by uploading them to the IDOC website.

To obtain a 2020 Verification of Non-Filing letter, use either the IRS's Get Transcript Tool or submit a copy of Form 4506-T to the IRS with Box 7 checked.  You will generally receive a copy of your letter by mail in 5-10 business days.
